PRE FREESKATE & FREESKATE 1-6
The Free Skate levels are designed to give skaters a strong foundation on which to build their skills. This is the point where the skater can choose whether to pursue a recreational or competitive approach to the sport of figure skating.
PRE FREESKATE
Skills:
- Forward inside open mohawk R-L & L-R
- Back crossovers to back outside edge glides (landing/both directions)
- Back outside edge to a forward outside edge
- Mohawk combination step (both directions)
- One-foot upright spin
- Mazurka R&L
- Waltz jump

- Forward power stroking
- Basic forward outside & inside consecutive edges
- Back outside three-turns R&L
- Upright spin, entry from back crossovers (min. 6 revs)
- Half flip
- Toe Loop
- Alternating forward outside and inside spirals
- Basic backward outside/inside consecutive edges
- Backward inside three-turns R&L
- Beginning back spin (up to 2 revs)
- half Lutz
- Salchow
FREESKATE 3 & 4
Skills:
- Alternating back crossovers to back outside edges (4 steps)
- Alternating mohawk/crossover sequence R-L & L&R
- Waltz three-turns
- Advanced backspin (free foot in crossed leg position, min 3 revs)
- Loop jump
- Waltz-toe loop or Salchow-toe loop combination
- Forward power three-turns R&L (3 sets each)
- Waltz eight (clockwise and counter clockwise)
- Forward upright spin to back upright spin (3 revs each)
- Sit spin (min. 3 revs)
- Half loop
- Flip
FREESKATE 5 & 6
Skills:
- Back outside three-turn, mohawk (clockwise and counter clockwise)
- Five-step mohawk sequence (clockwise and counter clockwise)
- Camel spin (min 3 revs)
- Waltz-loop jump combination
- Lutz
- Forward power pulls R&L
- Create step sequence (variety of three turns, mohawks & toe steps)
- Camel-sit spin combinations (min 2 revs each position)
- Layback or attitude spin or cross foot spin (3 revs)
- Waltz 1/2 loop salchow jump sequence
- Axel
